Mission Statement :: Assessment Plan :: Learning Objectives :: Mapping :: Outcome Data :: Databased Decisions

Data for the Assessment Plan:

1. ABET Evaluations. The Biological Engineering degree was re-accredited during the most recent visit and review, and is ABET accredited until the next cycle of evaluation in 2009.

2. Fundamentals of Engineering examination. We have a 100% pass rate, and, to the knowledge of the program, no Biological Engineering student has failed the FE exam on the first attempt. The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing will not release test scores by name. All BIE seniors scheduled for graduation in Spring, 2005 successfully passed the FE exam. Thus, the BIE department continues to have a 100% pass-rate on the national FE examination.

3. Placement. Data from 1999-2005 for graduates indicate that nearly 75% of the Biological Engineering graduates continue on to graduate and/or professional school before working. The remaining 25% is employed by industry. We therefore have 100% placement of our graduates (Table 2).

Table 2. Placement of Biological Engineering Program Graduates:

No. Continuing to grad. school 2 2 2 1 4 6
No. Employed 2 1 0 1 2 4

4. Employer Survey. Results for the employer survey for Spring 2005 is shown in Table 3, with rankings from 1 (fail) to 5 (excellent).
