CEE 3030 - Uncertainty in Engineering Analysis Introduction to Maple 10 or higher Gilberto E. Urroz - ph. 435-797-3379 - gilberto.urroz@usu.edu - ENGR 223 - fax 435-797-1185 Maple availability Maple 10 or higher is available in computer rooms across campus, or it can be purchased at the University bookstore. Also, a copy of Maple for installation in your computer can be obtained from the Computer Science Department, whose office is located in the 4th Floor of the OLD MAIN building. Borrow the installation DVD or CD from the office front desk attendant. You will need to have your University ID to request the installation materials. When installing the software you will need an Internet connection and a valid USU mail address and password.
Introductory assignment This assignment is aimed at getting you to learn the basic operation of the symbolic mathematical package Maple 10 (or higher versions) for subsequent use in probability and statistics.

NOTE: You may want to print the pdf files (DOCUMENTs 1 and 2) for easy reference. Be warned, though, that the two pdf files amount to about 120 pages. As an alternative, you can print DOCUMENT 1 (56 pages) and work out of the Worksheet in DOCUMENT 3, while reading DOCUMENT 2 in your computer.
Visit a computer lab and open a Maple 10 (or higher) worksheet, then, using DOCUMENT 1:
Open the Worksheet (DOCUMENT 3), and following the instructions in DOCUMENT 2, try the different exercises included in the worksheet, i.e.,
Save the two worksheets saved above into a zip file ("<YourLastName>_CEE3030.zip"), and e-mail this zip file to me at: gurro@cc.usu.edu before the assignment deadline.
