OpenOffice is a free-software office utility application including word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drafting, and equation writer.  StarOffice is similar, but a commercial package.

STAROFFICE

StarOffice  is an office suite that includes a word processor (StarWriter), a spreadsheet (StarCalc), presentations, database, drawing, formula writer, web browser, e-mail, etc.   The macro programming language in StarOffice is called StarBasic.  StarBasic is very similar to MS Visual Basic for Applications (visit my VBA/Excel page).
