A Smart Sensor combines novel sensing technologies
with signal processing and on-board computing to create a sensor that senses
its environment, adapts itself for best sensing, processes data and provides
information, and communicates to the user in an intelligent fashion. Just as the human eye dilates in the
presence of bright light and sends improved data to the brain, a smart sensor
adapts to its environment and sends improved data to the main processing
