Dr. Yu is currently an Associate Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Utah State University. He received his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2002.
His expertise is in structural mechanics and micromechanics of composite/smart materials. He has authored over 120 refereed technical articles and developed several computer
codes which are being extensively used in many government labs, universities, research institutes and companies. His research has been funded by both federal agencies and private industry.
He is also the Chief Technology Officer of AnalySwift, a company
centered on marketing and licensing the technologies developed in his group.
His recent honors include AIAA Associate Fellow, Utah Aerospace Engineering Educator of the Year,
USU Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, Georgia Tech Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni, College of Engineering Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award (2008, 2009),
MAE 5 Year Outstanding Researcher Award, MAE Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award (2008, 2009, 2012), ASEE Outstanding New Mechanics Educator Award, MAE Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, Sigma Xi Best PhD Thesis Award.
